Toodyay LCDC approaches its 100th meetingThe next meeting will be quite a milestone for the Toodyay LCDC, as it celebrates its 100th meeting.Gazetted in 1989, the LCDC has provided over twenty years of land conservation services to the Toodyay community. It has brought thousands of dollars of grant money into the Shire, and provided the resources to employ a Community Landcare Coordinator (CLC, later named the Community Landcare Support Officer, or CLSO). The CLC (or CLSO) introduced the Native Tree and Understorey Scheme that has provided endless numbers of plants to landholders at very reasonable costs, and was the catylist for the Seed Orchard Group. They have also provided free landcare advice to ratepayers. Congratulations are extended to the State Government for continuing to support the LCDCs, and to the Toodyay Land Conservation District Committee on reaching this landmark. |
